Renovating a beautiful home in the heart of Boonsboro, VA for the past six months has been one of the most challenging adventures to say the least! I have spent countless hours and more money than I would have ever guessed to get this breathtaking home renovated! Every single room has been completely redesigned and the final reveal will be coming your way soon! I have driven over to this home over 100 thousand times to make sure the painter has paint, the oven gets delivered, the lawn is mowed and to measure different features or walls.
When I first saw this home and decided to purchase the home, there were some very important components I knew were missing! Some of those things for me were the importance of having a nice laundry/mudroom, a huge eat-in-kitchen with an Island, and a Huge Master Bathroom! The laundry was all the way down in the basement and who likes to go to the unfinished basement to do laundry? I would never ever like that so wanted to find a perfect new location for one upstairs. The more I thought about how small the existing kitchen was and how no one ever uses a dining room as much anymore. I decided to completely tear out the existing kitchen and make it into a shiplap, farmhouse rustic looking mudroom with lots of character.
I wanted to show you the before pictures to give you an idea as to how small the kitchen was and how important this space really is for a home. The kitchen is where lots of love and memories have always been made in my home growing up and now a place I feel like I live with three little one’s.
See the Before Pictures Below..
Before all the renovations began the Kitchen was a very small space with no room to entertain so of course I decided to totally gut the kitchen and make it the Laundry Room and Mudroom! When I was growing up we always had a mudroom where we would go in from being outdoors and wash our hands, take off our dirty shoes and hung our jackets so I have always loved having this space. When we built our custom home in Forest two years ago I had to have a beautiful mudroom right were you come in the back door.
Here are the pictures during demo:
We had to make sure when we moved the kitchen we would be able to figure out how to run the oven vent out the brick wall on the opposite side where we were moving the new kitchen. This took lots of reworking and figuring out and with lots of ideas thrown around I can’t wait to show you the new kitchen update next week! I took down the Fan and added a super neat light that will be a nice feature as your coming down your driveway and the light is on! I am adding a washer & dryer to the back right corner and that will come with the home as well! My painter repainted all the cabinets with China Doll by Sherwin Williams! The Shiplap is Pure White by Sherwin Williams and the accent windows and door color is also a Sherwin Williams color Pavestone of course!
The beams we painted to match the flow of the ceiling and the knobs will match the new kitchen ones as well! Check out the cool bench were you can store boots, book bags, blankets or anything you want out of sight! There is a huge pantry as well that will be great for paper goods, office supplies, art supplies, crafts, games or anything you want! Check out the amazing built in Cabinet we repainted and kept. It even has butcher block cutting boards that come out above the drawers.
I hope you loved the detailed updates and there will be so many more to come! I can’t wait to show you the Master Bathroom next!
