Breaking Records

Records were meant to be Broken!

Fun little story for today! It may be one of the busiest days I have ever had but I will always put my kids first after letting a career dictate my time! Your kids deserve your attention and love!

Yesterday when I picked up my kids from school they were telling me all about this obstacle course at their school Liberty Christian Academy they had to run in P.E. and try to break Mr. Patterson’s record. He held the record all week for a tough course record of 47 seconds! Haley said, “mom you should come and try to break his record”.   Then Natalie said, “mom pleas, please come to my class and run it with me, you will win! They sure do have faith in their old momma! They even went on the school website to find out what time her P.E. Class was, so cute!

I didn’t think anything else about it, but then laying in bed I thought it would be best to surprise my daughter at school today and so that is what I did!!!
Not like I have anything else going on today,  but seeing her face when I walked in was priceless ! It’s our role as parents to give our kids confidence and you could see she felt so loved! It’s always best to make time for he people you love so I canceled my speed workout with a friend and got there with no expectations!

If you know me I am very competitive and so I put my game face on and went for it! As you can see from the video I even almost fell on my face, I have a rug burn on my hand and was so out of breath!  Guess what who can let a bunch of cheering 2nd graders down? I surely can’t, so to find out my time was 44 seconds and I broke the record!!!

44

The kids were all wanting to hold my hands and arms and I had them telling me I could be in the Olympics! They took me back to their classroom to get a band aid for my bloody hand! I tell you it made my whole week for sure!

Then I went up to see my middle school 8th grader, who is precious, but the minute all his friends saw me and they were like Hunter there’s your mom he was embarrassed! Well look at the difference a few years and peers can make! My 2nd grader loved having me and my 8th grader was embarrassed!

Driving home I got a text saying someone just broke your record at 42 seconds so I guess this girl is going to wake up, eat her Wheaties, and go back to try to break the record!! This time I won’t fall on my face!!! Calling all moms from LCA that have elementary students, I want you to come with me to try to break this record, one of us will do it!!
