It is all about having a positive mindset and also asking for what you want in life.

I had one of these experiences over the Fourth of July Weekend where I had signed up to run in the “Balloons over Rockbridge 5K” on the morning of July 4th. This 5K run/walk course was located on the beautiful rolling Blue Ridge Mountains near the Virginia Horse Center outside historic Lexington, VA.

The whole time I was running and striving for first place while watching these magnificent huge hot air balloons, my thoughts kept taking me to a cool idea. The idea I had hoped would become a reality was the winner getting to ride in a hot air balloon for free.  You know that kept me motivated on running the race as hard as I could so that I could win the race. When I crossed the finish line I passed out from exhaustion but had the first place of all the females who ran so this made me feel accomplished.

While my husband was talking to a guy he actually hadn’t seen since back in his high school days, I went up to the super nice race director and just said wouldn’t it be so neat if the male and female overall winners could ride in a hot air balloon for the prize? She looked at me and said you know what that is a great idea let me make a quick call and off she went. She started to announce the winners and right before she announced the first category she said, “we have a really cool prize for the overall male and female runners today and that is they will get a free ride in a hot air balloon tonight at the festival.”  I could hardly believe what I was hearing and the guy Matt was talking too was like no way that is just the coolest. I have learned that you should always ask and you may receive and knock and the door shall open. This is Biblical truth and words to live by. Living an abundant life is all about having a positive mindset and the power of your thoughts. The answer will always be no unless you ask.

The good news is that next year I will have a free ride in a hot air balloon because it rained that night but still it was such a cool moment in time.
